What is "custom build" web design?
What do we mean by ‘custom build website design’?
Essentially, it’s starting from scratch, building specifically to your requirements. It’s the web design equivalent of laying foundations and building brick by brick, based on an architect’s design.
It’s expensive and slow.
Why we don’t do it
Firstly, because it’s expensive and slow! Inefficient and time-consuming. Dull and boring. Tedious and… OK you get the idea.
Secondly, everybody else does it. Being astute marketers we recognise we need to differentiate ourselves in an ocean of web design banality. And the easiest way to do that? Don’t do what everyone else does.
Aside from that, we don’t need to do it. We built our own platform so we wouldn’t have to go through the tedium of doing all the set-up every time we welcome a new client.
And having our own proprietary platform means we’re not open to the barrage of security attacks whenever someone discovers a vulnerability in WordPress. (Other vulnerable platforms are available).
But most importantly, we don’t believe it works. We believe the whole web design paradigm of ‘customer pays web designer an arm-and-a-leg up-front’ doesn’t work. Has never worked.
Put simply, once your web designer has fleeced you for your website build, you’re no longer of any interest to them. They are off chasing the next big pay cheque in order to pay their massive wages overhead.
A better approach
At Weblaunch we firmly believe a better approach is one that keeps the web designer hungry. One that keeps them engaged with the customer.
How? By not charging an up-front fee. And spreading the cost of the set-up over the life of the website.
But we don’t tie you in to a long contract; it’s just a rolling monthly contract. So to recoup our set-up costs we need to keep you happy for quite a while. It completely reverses the risk in the web designer / client relationship.
Having said that, we don’t believe there is any risk; we’re very confident in our product and our ability to provide what you need.
And if it doesn’t already do what you want, we’re happy to write a new module for you - as long as we feel it’s commercial and future customers may ask for the same. So if you’re after a goat tracking module you may be out of luck…
But you can always ask!
Our designers are all here in the UK. No out-sourcing. No offshore timezone roulette. No communication breakdown “message relay”. Just pick up the phone and immediately talk to someone who can help at a business established in 2009.
Once your website is up and running we’ll give you access to our admin site where you can update your own content with easy-to-use tools. Or if you prefer, just ask us to do it all for you - there’s no extra cost.
And if all that doesn’t give you complete peace-of-mind, know that everything is included - domain name, hosting, secure SSL certificate, email and office hours support.
So no matter what happens, you’ll pay a predictable, fixed monthly Direct Debit for your website.
