And Our Survey Says… Bing? Maybe it’s Binghoo, or Yahng.

So by now, you have probably seen, heard of or even used Microsoft’s new baby, Bing.

Long rumoured to be called Kumo (Japanese for spider – as in search engines spider the web), Bing has entered the search arena with a huge marketing campaign, a mass of conjecture and even more hype. What’s more, Microsoft and Yahoo have recently entered a decade long agreement that will see Bing be responsible for providing Yahoo’s search results.

Some online marketeers were hesitant to acknowledge Bing as having any potential, however early responses to it were good, and now that it is to have control over the second most popular search engine, it definitely cannot be ignored.

I would recommend that you make sure your site is Bing worthy. Of course, content is still the most important thing above all else (there is speculation that Bing favours unique content spanning 300 words or more per page), but there are some key differences between the ways Google and Bing assign rankings.

More on this subject to come.
