Why I’m Proud of weblaunch

OK, I’m a director of the company that produces weblaunch, so naturally I’m biased, but I believe weblaunch is a cracking proposition for small businesses. In fact, the more I think about it, the better it seems. Here’s why:

Features

My ambition is to make weblaunch as feature-rich as possible. We already have a list of modules as long as your arm, and we’ll continue to add to them and improve them. Owning a weblaunch website is like having a bunch of geeks constantly working to improve your website.

No upfront cost

This one’s a no-brainer, really. Why would you pay out a small fortune in advance for a website when you don’t have to?

Streamlined code

This one’s a bit geeky, but go with me. If you view source on a weblaunch page you’ll see – if you know what you’re looking at – that the html behind it is really streamlined. Why is this so good? Well, for a number of reasons really. It’ll work on a number of platforms, it works better in browser readers for the visually impaired and search engines like streamlined code.

To date, all of the competing ‘template’ website systems that I’ve looked at have had dreadful code – inline javascript and CSS, and table-based layouts galore. Not that long ago we had a user of one of these systems ask us to search engine optimise his site. The template system he had was so restrictive we felt it couldn’t be done efficiently.

Search engine optimisable

Which leads me nicely onto the next big benefit. Not only is our base code lean, with our SEO module and a bit of homework it’s possible to build a very competitive website using weblaunch. Of course you still need to do your keyword research and write decent content, but no automated system will ever take care of that vital aspect of SEO.

We’ll be sharing our SEO top tips in this blog.

Highly scalable

So, you’re a small business, just started out. A weblaunch website is a great proposition because it’s low cost and high quality. But in a couple of years your business has really taken off. You want to introduce all kinds of bespoke elements to your website that weblaunch won’t support – can’t think of an example off the top of my head, but it’s bound to happen.

No problem. We can ‘unplug’ your website from the weblaunch system really easily and set it up as a stand alone, template-free website within minutes. How many other template systems can boast that?

Low tech

You don’t need to be a tech-head to have a weblaunch website, either. We do all the set-up for you, all you have to do is tell us how you’d like it to look and what you want it to say. And using our content management system is a doddle. I have less and less to do with development at The Marvellous Media Company, and have actually contributed nothing directly to weblaunch. I have to say, the guys have done an excellent job. Better than I would have done!

Flexible

The modular approach gives weblaunch great flexibility too. Want to try selling online but not sure how successful it will be? No problem. Test the water for a month or two by adding the shop module. If it’s a great success, leverage it by upgrading to shop+. If it doesn’t fly, just switch off the shop module and your costs return to normal.

You couldn’t do that on a conventional website!

In summary

I think weblaunch is a truly great product. And every time we have an idea to make it better it will go straight on the to-do list.

I feel like a proud dad, watching my baby take its first steps, knowing that it’ll grow up to be big and strong, darn clever and a bit of a looker.
